FAQ’s about

How is “Jesus in the Gospels” (JIG) different from DISCIPLE ?
Everything about JIG is the same as DISCIPLE except for:
1. JIG runs 30 weeks. This is 4 weeks shorter than DISCIPLE I (34 weeks).
2. JIG looks at the way each Gospel writer presents events and teachings and at the picture of Jesus that emerges in each of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).
Lessons 1-22 are concentrated in Matthew, Mark, and Luke
Lessons 23-30 concentrate on John with supporting scriptures from elsewhere in the Bible.

Do I have to take DISCIPLE I before I take JIG?
Yes. DISCIPLE I is the foundational curriculum for all DISCIPLE courses. This requirement not only prepares participants for the study content, but also ensures participants are experienced in small group dynamics.

Do I have to take DISCIPLE II, III, and IV before taking JIG?
Although you are not required to complete anything other than DISCIPLE I before taking JIG, JIG is considered the “second generation” of DISCIPLE. Therefore, it is advisable that you have a strong foundation in Bible study and group experience prior to enrolling in JIG.

Is “Jesus in the Gospels” offered every year?
Like all group offerings, the availability of JIG is contingent upon a qualified volunteer leader and a minimum (usually 6) of committed participants.

Who is qualified to lead JIG?
Anyone who has graduated from DISCIPLE I is eligible to lead JIG. However, it is recommended that leaders of JIG will have led some level of DISCIPLE previously.
