Disciple Bible Studies

Program activities include daily reading and study and weekly small group meetings led by a trained facilitator featuring an informational video presentation.


Fast Track Disciple I - Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study. 24 weeks; an intensive survey of the
Old & New Testaments. Facilitated by Rev. Laura Parker.  Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm. Cost of Materials: $30.

Disciple I is a prerequisitefor all other Disciple studies and Jesus in the Gospels. Subsequent classes may be taken in any order.

Fast Track Disciple II - Out of the Word, Into the World: 24 weeks on Genesis / Exodus and Luke / Acts. Facilitated by Barbara Davis. Wednesdays, 9:00-10:15 am. Cost of Materials: $30.

Disciple III - 32 weeks; Remember Who You Are: The Old Testament Prophets and the Letters of Paul. Facilitated by Barbara Stewart. Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00 pm. Orientation: August 30th, 6 pm. Cost of Materials: $35.


Jesus in the Gospels - 
30 weeks; A Second Generation Disciple Bible Study; daily scripture reading illuminates some aspect of Jesus in the Gospels each week and connects Scripture to daily life and Jesus' call to discipleship. Facilitated by Nan Denson. 
Thursdays, 9:00-11:30 am. Class begins September 7th.  Cost of Materials: $35.

 

Wednesday Nights:

Wednesday night is FAMILY NIGHT at FUMC with activities for the whole family, beginning with dinner at 5:00 pm, followed by Pastor’s Bible Study, Fast Track Disciple I, Disciple III or Experiencing God. Excellent programs for Youth and Children are offered and nursery is available for our youngest members.


Pastor’s Bible Study The Reformation
Five hundred years after the Protestant Reformation, the world is still reverberating from the changes that brought about a new way to look at the Christian Faith.  There is no reading material ahead of time and each lesson stands on its own.  Facilitated by Dr. Ed Glaize.  
Wednesday, 6:00-7:00 pm, in the Fellowship Hall.No cost and registration is not necessary.


Experiencing God
Many people who have taken this study have found it to be life changing! This 13-week study takes participants through 5 days of reading and study each week with a video and discussion during class. Facilitated by Tony Caminiti.  Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm.  Cost of Materials: $20.



Other Studies:

Women of the Bible
The women featured in this devotional study will encourage you through their failures as well as their successes. You’ll see how God acted in surprising and wonderful ways to draw them—and you—to himself. This is a year-long study with breaks for holidays. Begins September 12th. Facilitated by Martha Barricklow. Tuesdays, 10:00-11:00+ am, with option to go to lunch together after. 
Cost of Materials: $10. Class size will be limited.

Drop-in Discussion Group
Dr. Ann Pearson facilitates this ongoing drop-in discussion group. The current study is When the Past Won’t Let You Go by H. Norman Wright. Meets every Monday, year round, 1:00-2:00 pm in the library.  Drop in anytime.  No charge for book.


History, Science & the Bible
This 4-week study will walk you through a deeper understanding of the Bible as facilitators bring history and science alongside your reading of scripture. Facilitated by Linda Smith (History) and
Sid Vogel (Science.) Children’s choirs run concurrently and nursery will be offered for children 4 years and under.  Dates TBA.  Sundays, 4:00-5:00 pm.  No cost.
