In under 24 hours, Hurricane Michael intensified from a Category 1 hurricane to a major Category 4 hurricane with a direct impact on the northeast Gulf Coast. This rapid growth was caused by extreme warm ocean temperatures, making the worst-case scenario a reality. When Hurricane Michael made landfall, it did so as the most powerful hurricane to hit the contiguous United States since Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

The greatest impact of the storm was seen in Mexico Beach, Florida and the surrounding areas, where the storm made landfall with wind speeds in excess of 130 mph. Homes were completely demolished, trees were shredded in half, and thousands of residents were left without power.

It is our mission to partner with Praying Pelican Ministry as they take teams into the Florida Panhandle to help these affected areas. Our teams will be assigned a partner organization as we near the date and our job descriptions will be given to us at that time. Until then, we know these jobs could include any of the following: clean up, painting, construction, preparing meals & serving others, Kids Camp and more. The Florida Panhandle is beginning the long and difficult job of picking up the pieces of their homes and lives and our team will do our small part to help these people during this week of service.
