Fairhope UMC Scholarships

 

The Fairhope United Methodist Scholarships are awarded to applicants whose character and accomplishments make them worthy representatives of Fairhope United Methodist Church.  Awards are granted to students who are actively involved with Fairhope United Methodist Church.  Some scholarships are awarded to an applicant who is preparing for ordained ministry, attending a Methodist college, or pursuing a church related vocation; need; or other criteria.  Numbers and amounts of each scholarship will depend on annual availability of funds.

Please note: Scholarship applications are accepted December 1 – January 15
and are awarded in February.



Below is a description of each Scholarship:

THE ROBERT BRUCE AND MARY ADAMS GIBSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is given in memory of a wonderful couple and outstanding church members Robert B. Gibson and Mary Adams Gibson. This scholarship is given annually to applicants whose character and accomplishments make them worthy representatives of Fairhope United Methodist Church and of Robert Bruce and Mary Adams Gibson.

THE ROBERT BRYAN  & NANCY CARR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is given in memory of Robert Bryan & Nancy Carr, a deeply committed United Methodist couple, serving in various capacities of leadership over their lifetime. This scholarship is given annually to applicants whose character and accomplishments make them worthy representatives of Fairhope United Methodist Church and of Robert Bryan & Nancy Carr.

THE FRANCIS C. and MARGARET WILSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is given in memory of a beloved couple who gave countless hours of service to the United Methodist Church.  It was the desire of the Wilson's to encourage Christian service by making this scholarship available.

is given in memory of David Duchene and is available to anyone who is a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, regardless of the college or vocational preference. 

 

THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP in keeping with their purpose of service to women, children and youth, this scholarship is available to women who are related to Fairhope United Methodist church, regardless of the college attended or vocational preference.
 

THE BUTGEREIT MISSION SCHOLARSHIP is given in honor / memory of a couple instrumental in the field of mission & outreach at Fairhope UMC, Elsie & the late, Roy Butgereit. This scholarship is available for a graduating senior active in the area of missions at Fairhope UMC.  

 

THE FUMC ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS SCHOLARSHIPare given by the Homecoming Class, Living Word Class, and the Discovery Class. They will be awarded to deserving students whose character and accomplishments make them worthy representatives of Fairhope United Methodist Church. These scholarships are available for students who are presently seniors in high school & also those who have graduated and are entering or re-entering their pursuit of a higher education. The student must be a member of Fairhope UMC and be currently active in church programming & worship.  

The Living Word Sunday School class scholarship is given in memory of Diedre Lee, Shirley Smith & Jerry Byars. 

LESTER I. BOONE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is given in memory of Lester I. Boone and is available to anyone who is a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, regardless of the college or vocational preference. 

MARTHA NORTHCUTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is given in memory of Martha Northcutt and is available to anyone who is a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, enrolled in Auburn, Birmingham Southern or Huntingdon College.
