Office Manager

Fairhope United Methodist Church in Fairhope, AL (fairhopeumc.org) has an open position for an Office Manager. Fairhope UMC exists to love boldly, casting the light of Jesus into the world. The Office Manager plays an essential role in making that mission possible.

FUMC averages 430 people in weekly worship attendance, with outstanding facilities and strong teams of volunteers. We also have a strong track record of local missions and community support.

The Office Manager is responsible for maintaining the systems that make all programmatic ministries of the church possible: membership records, building schedules, online forms and automations, procurement, mass communications, and bulletin production. The Office Manager also leads the “review” portion of the weekly staff meeting, ensuring all staff have completed their regular reports, calendar items, and follow-up tasks, and serves as the primary point of contact for contractors supporting our printing and information technologies.

Alongside our front desk volunteers and pastors, the Office Manager ensures that callers and in-person visitors are warmly and promptly directed to the right channels. This position requires a highly organized, tech-savvy, and relationally gifted individual with a genuine love for the local church.

Required and demonstrated skills include:

  • Spiritual Commitment: Active Christian faith, a servant’s heart, and a genuine love for the local church and its people.
  • Organization & Follow-Through: Ability to manage multiple recurring responsibilities across daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cycles with reliability and attention to detail.
  • Technology Proficiency: Confidence navigating church management software (Shelby experience a plus), Microsoft Office Suite, and digital communication platforms.
  • Publications & Layout: Skill in reproducing and maintaining established print and digital layouts, producing polished bulletins, newsletters, and devotionals on deadline.
  • Persistent Follow-Up: Ability to pursue outstanding responses from volunteers and colleagues—scheduling confirmations, reports, deadlines—graciously but reliably.
  • Hospitality & Congregational Care: A warm, hospitable presence with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the church graciously in every interaction.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong personal faith consistent with the United Methodist tradition.

Applicants for this position should email a letter of interest with an attached resume to Rev. Michael Precht, Senior Pastor, . Questions can be directed to the church office at 251-928-1148.
