It is a program that equips lay people to provide confidential, one on one Christian care to individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
What are characteristics of a Stephen Minister?
Prayerful, confidential, caring & nurturing, listening skills and relies on their faith through life experiences.
How can I become a Stephen Minister?
Apply and interview with the Stephen Ministers. After acceptance, 50 hours of training will begin in January.
How many care receivers will I have at one time?
Usually one care receiver is placed with one Stephen Minister.
Who might need a Stephen Minister?
Someone who has experienced a change or transition in their life such as death, divorce, illness, job loss, retirement, new in the community, birth of a child, empty nest syndrome, feeling overwhelmed or stressed out.
What can a Stephen Minister offer to the care receiver?
Confidentiality, someone who walks beside you, a caring Christian friend who listens unconditionally.
