Lamentations 3:22-23
22. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
23. they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Recently one of my wise colleagues said, "We ought to reimagine life in a new way, rather than expect things to go back to what it used to be."
As we look forward to the reopening of our church, we've had to reimagine new ways of worship and interacting in our community. Most of you, with children in school, have had to reimagine new ways of moving forward and teach your children to do likewise. It's almost as if we have been given a reset button and a new opportunity to redesign our lives in creative ways, that we wouldn't otherwise have the time and space.
The pandemic has forced us to adjust and make changes, and adopt new ways of living and working. It has pushed us to prioritize and sort out who and what really matters. Like the change of season that is heading our way, offering us cooler days outside, change is a must. We don't always welcome it as we should. It upends our comfort levels, leaving us insecure and afraid. It challenges our expectations, our routines, our understanding of the world, and even how we live in it.
What if God wanted us to use this time to reimagine our lives in new ways? What if God wants us to prioritize our lives based on him, and not go back to those priorities others set for us?
Friends, change is constant, but God’s Love and God’s mercy remains. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.
Let Us Pray:
Merciful God, help me to see Your goodness in this change and guide us as we try to reimagine life anew.
Blessings,
Rev. Ontonio Christie
